welcome back

The new school year is right around the corner and I would like to officially welcome you and your family to an exciting 23-24 school year.

We have been working all summer, gearing up for an incredible new school year. The district has continued our partnership with the city to have a school resource officer on campus. Our hard-working custodians have been cleaning our buildings. Many of our staff members have improved their craft through training over the summer.

Online Enrollment is open on the website for new and returning students. Please complete the Free/Reduced Lunch application even if you think your family doesn’t qualify or your student doesn’t eat with us.

There are some changes for the upcoming year. An additional 5 minutes will be added to the elementary day and 13 minutes to the HS/MS day. This change is to move the HS/MS schedule to an 8-period day which will allow for the inclusion of flex time (Advocacy) and to add HS athletics into the school day. The reason behind this change is to do what is best for students and our programs. This move will help with the attraction of coaching staff and hopefully an increase in student participation. This change will allow students not to miss an academic class when earlier dismissal for traveling is required. It will also allow for afternoon Career Tech students to stay at RRTC for the complete afternoon session. MS will have an academic achievement incorporated into the end of their day to allow for remediation and enrichment. Students may also have the opportunity to take additional electives while reducing the need for virtual classes.

The start time will stay the same and the dismissal time will be adjusted accordingly, Elementary 3:10 and HS/MS 3:18. We will add an additional Activity/Inclement Weather Day the Friday before Spring Break, see the updated calendar on the webpage. Car Riders will be picked up from the elementary before the route busses so please look for updates and changes in this area.

On our website, you can find the Distance Learning Handbook (hopefully we won’t need it), and other back-to-school resources. We have also added a district Facebook page so you can find district pertinent information.
