The Comanche Board of Education met on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for a regular session. Board Members approved various routine consent agenda items, including the minutes of the February regular meeting and the resignations of  Gary Robinson, Melissa Channel, and David Black. The board also approved the treasurer’s report, General Fund encumbrances, and the E-Rate Category 2 supported contract with CDW-G for network equipment. The board also approved the hiring of Jennifer Lancaster as a personal care assistant. Courtney Odom from Patten and Odom, CPAs,  presented the 2024-2025 audit page by page and answered questions from board members. Ms. Odom was complimentary of the central office staff and their cooperation during the virtual audit. Auditors noted that no findings were reported as significant deficiencies, no instances of noncompliance relative to Government Auditing Standards, and no audit findings relative to federal program awards.  In the Schedule of Comments, auditors found nothing to indicate that Comanche School District I-2 had not complied with significant rules and regulations of the Oklahoma State Department of Education.  The Schedule of Comments did list two comments with recommendations for improvement.  Finance Director Terry Davidson advised the board that the auditor's recommendations would be followed, and action plans are already being implemented in response to the two comments.  Mrs. Bills complimented the central office staff and others throughout the school district whose diligence in managing school district finances contributed to a positive audit report. 

Bills reported on various student accomplishments and noted that this time of year is full of activities. Hollister Pollock was chosen as an FCA All-State recipient. Comanche has had an All-State recipient for 7 consecutive years.

The district had three High School Girls’ Wrestling State Qualifiers – Celina Quezada, Brook West (Regional Champion), and Mya Padilla. There were five High School Boys’ Wrestling State Qualifiers – Kagen White, Aidan Frye, Matthew Hunt (Regional Champion), Erik Roy, and Kanon Clift were Regional Champions. The Boys’ Wrestling team finished Top 4 at Regionals, and the Girls’ Wrestling finished Top. Two High School Wrestling State Runner-Up finishers – Brook West and Kanon Clift. Brook West signed to wrestle at Carl Albert State University. Kanon Clift and Eric Roy both had their 100th career match wins. 

Boys Basketball Quad County All-Conference team performers were Easton Bowen, Honorable Mention- Hollister Pollack, Cooper Epperson, Carson Vansickle, and Johnny Alvarez. Girls Basketball Quad County All Conference Team performers were Raelee Ellis, Bre Gill, Cassidy Smith, and Cianna O Connor. The baseball season has begun. Track and Golf will soon be underway. The Speech and Debate program has 3 students qualifying for the National Speech and Debate District tournament, March 6-8 in Oklahoma City. Nine students qualified for State Speech and Debate Regionals in Weatherford on the campus of SWOSU on March 27-28. Students qualifying are: Austin Ehredt, Caison McLean, Kitt Mills, Abigail Ralls, Ellie Schreiner, Drei Sparks, Kanton Stevens, Isabella Whitfield, and Alaina Yeary.

The Comanche FFA program has been very active. The program has 4 American Degree Candidates this year. Comanche 4-H & FFA had a lot of success during the Stephens County Livestock Show. 14 of our livestock exhibitors made the Premium sale, along with Crosbee Padgett (broilers), Kovin Lewis (heifers), and Braxton Fenton and Hollister Pollock (ag mech), winning Grand Champion.  Jace and Easton Bowen were Reserve Grand, and Lucyane Boren was Bronze in the Ag Mech Contest as well. Comanche students had multiple breed champions, reserve breed champions, division winners, and reserve division winners across all shows. We will have numerous livestock and Ag Mech exhibitors competing at the Oklahoma Youth Expo. FFA members, Braxton Fenton & Hollister Pollock, recently competed in the Strother FFA Iron Man welding contest and were named Grand Champion Team.

Ensembles: Kross Harkins and Bristol Hurst: Mallet Duet -State Qualified, Kylan and Shylah: Multiple Percussion Duet - State Qualified, Percussion Ensemble -State Qualified.

Brayden Brown: Trombone - 2, Logan Darst: Euphonium, Walker McCarty: Tuba, Maeson Scott: Tuba. 

Bills also reminded the board of the upcoming board seat election and professional development points and opportunities.

In her recommendation to rehire the principals and directors, Mrs. Bills noted, “These individuals are committed to improving the quality of our programs and the education we provide to our students. With Sean Hushbeck stepping into the role of maintenance director and Mr. Davidson managing the district finances, I can help support our special education programs. Together, as a team, we can  ensure that our students continue to have opportunities for growth and success.”
