The Comanche Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. During the meeting, board members approved various special service contracts for the upcoming school year, along with routine consent agenda items including the April regular meeting minutes, activity fund reports, treasurer’s report, and encumbrances in the General and Co-Op funds, and resignations.

Superintendent Julie Bills reported that summer school will be limited to high school credit recovery courses and will begin June 1.

Bills also highlighted numerous student accomplishments and end-of-year activities across the district. The Comanche boys golf team earned a third-place finish at the state tournament and was also named Academic State Champions. Representatives from the Comanche FFA Chapter attended the Oklahoma State FFA Convention, where the chapter received the National 3-Star Program Chapter Trust Recognition. Seniors earned several honors, including two students receiving Ag Career Passports in Communication. Braxton Fenton and Hollister Pollock also placed fourth in the Oklahoma FFA Welding Series.

The speech and debate program competed under the leadership of Mr. Brown. State qualifiers included Austin Ehredt in Informative Speaking; Caison McClean in Prose; and Kanton Stevens in Prose, Humorous Interpretation, and Dramatic Interpretation, where he was also a State Finalist and placed sixth overall. Ellie Schreiner qualified in Prose, Humorous Interpretation, and Original Oratory, earning State Finalist honors and placing fifth in Humorous Interpretation, fourth in Prose, and third in Original Oratory.

Comanche band students also excelled at solo and ensemble competition, with all participants earning Superior ratings. Superior soloists included Bentley Hatfield, JD Hensley, Keyliegh Hurst, Paige Pollard, and Rylan Shelby. Superior-rated ensembles included Kross Harkins and Bristol Hurst, as well as Kylan Nichols and Shylah Nichols. The Comanche Percussion Ensemble also earned a Superior rating and featured Karlye Anderson, Billy Clark, Emily Clark, Ellie Englishbee, Kross Harkins, Bentley Hatfield, Gavin Hawkins, Bristol Hurst, Keyliegh Hurst, Kylan Nichols, Shylah Nichols, Paige Pollard, Kylee Powers, Kain Pritchett, Briana Rider, Jr Rodgers, and Rylan Shelby. Vocalist David Morris received an Excellent rating.

Additional district celebrations included the FCA Banquet featuring former NFL player Gerald McCoy as guest speaker, and Hollister Pollock receiving his All-State jacket. The baseball program honored five seniors during Senior Night. Bills commended Coach Foster for the leadership and culture he has established within the program, noting his emphasis on determination, grit, and discipline. The Unified Sports Team was also recognized for earning the State Champion Banner School designation for the fourth consecutive year.
