The Comanche Board of Education met in a regular session on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Board members approved several routine consent agenda items, including the minutes of the May regular board meeting, activity fund reports, the treasurer’s report, and encumbrances in the general and building funds. The board also approved contracts for a variety of services for the 2026-2027 school year.

Superintendent Julie Bills reported that summer activities are well underway, with students and coaches participating in a variety of camps and programs. She noted that the campus has been especially busy during the early morning hours as Summer Pride activities continue. Bills expressed optimism that participation will increase once summer camps conclude.

District staff will remain active throughout the summer, with several teachers attending the OKSTE EdTech Takeaway Event. In addition, OTEP teachers will meet in the coming weeks to review progress toward last year’s district goals and establish priorities for the upcoming school year. Improving communication with all stakeholders and increasing academic achievement will remain key district goals. The district will also continue its focus on student engagement pathways and MTSS/Direct Instruction initiatives.

Bills also updated the board on the potential for a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) agreement related to a proposed housing development north of town. Additionally, she informed board members about a refinery project planned for the Meridian area and noted that she will continue to monitor and report on any potential financial impact to the district.

In personnel matters, the Board of Education approved the hiring of Hunter Mildren as a high school science teacher, Mackenzie Leveille as an early childhood teacher, and Kelly Clark for maintenance and bus driving duties. Bills reported that all certified and support staff positions have been filled, with the exception of one janitorial position.

“We’re excited about the new faculty members we’ve added over the last several months,” Bills said. “Each brings valuable skills and experience that will strengthen our district and contribute to the success of our students. They will be outstanding additions to the CPS team.”
