Without the bond issue, the district will not financially be able to accomplish these projects and renovations.
The renovations of the current band room will provide a common area. This will be a space students can congregate before school and during lunch period. Right now students are outside, and when the weather is not conducive to being outside the students are in the gym. This space will allow for the HS students to have a place of their own. It will also provide an area where high school students can eat lunch without going to the middle school.
The safe room would double as a storm shelter for students during school hours without having to try to get to the MS during a storm. The safe room may be able to be connected to the main building at this time. This will require the district to bring the portion of the structure up to the current fire code. Other major building renovations would include replacing various flat roofs across the district. Many of the flat roof coverings are nearing the end of their lifespan and it is time to replace them. New playground equipment for the elementary school, resurfacing the track, replacing the ag truck, and band instruments and uniforms would also be purchased.
